Renaissance pair of lions around 1600-1650

Renaissance pair of lions, carved wood 17th century (c. 1600-1650). This pair of lions was made for the mantelpiece of a castle. It is not about furniture attachments e.g. for a cupboard or paneling. Masterful carving with expressive faces typical of the time. Original colors and in very good condition without woodworm damage. Very rare, because it was definitely a commissioned work and made to fit the client's mantelpiece. Length approx 2x 28cm.
