Late Renaissance mortar dated 1660

Heavy, massive South German late Renaissance mortar, probably Nuremberg dated 1660. Side handle with dragon or sea snake heads typical of the time. Owner's initials “G.V. and A. P. “and dating. Hallmarks with a star and a crescent moon that are typical for Nuremberg around the handles. Dark, beautifully grown patina. The Pistil is not part of the offer. No damage or repairs. Height: 15.5cm, diameter at the top 14cm and weight approx. 7-8 kg.
