Renaissance mortar 1606

Large Renaissance mortar made of extremely heavy cast bronze. Sign-shaped cartouche with owner's name and date on the front: "Wilhelm Streuf von Lauenstein 1606". The “Streiff von Lauenstein” were a noble family from the Palatinate. Verso in Roman numerals "XVIII". Very good condition without breakouts or restorations. Height 18.5 cm, diameter above 17 cm.
