Renaissance - Hostienteller

Original Renaissance hostel from the time of the Thirty Years' War. The Hostienteller is made of solid silver and is completely fire gilded. The gilding is of course plastered after almost 380 years of constant use and cleaning! On the upper side cross and the lower side inscription with founder name and date "A E Liboccon Doyen de florines 1640" Could be called ... AE. Liboccon as name, dean as office, of Florines as place, date of foundation 1640. Since it concerns a foundation object, which never came into the sales the plate also has no marks. The plate was however restored by a gold and silver master forge ... the old gold and silver objects restored on silver. The tremolo line is slightly right-oblique at the edge above the 0 of the dating 1640. Is barely visible with the eye. The Hostienteller comes from an old Swiss collection. Very good condition. Diameter 14 cm.
